Dr. Rakesh Kumar, M.D.

Dr Rakesh Kumar is Senior Consultant in the Department Internal Medicine at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, for past twenty years and practicing medicine for over 35 years. He specializes in treatment and prevention of Diabetes, Hypertension and other life style related diseases like obesity, arthritis, high cholesterol, bronchial asthma and infectious diseases to mention a few.

In this span of more than 3 decades of successful practice, he has satisfactorily treated thousands of patients and excelled the art of medicine, with a human touch. His patients are not only from all over India, but also from our neighboring countries i.e. Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh Nepal and Sri Lanka. He also has patients from Africa ( Tanzania, Kenia Uganda, Nigeria Zambia Congo), Gulf ( UAE , Saudi Arab, Iraq, Iran,Oman, Yaman, Jordan), USA and UK.

With this demanding profession, he not only gives times to his patient and carrier but he also makes his earnest efforts to keep himself updated with the knowledge latest in the field of medicine and strive hard to give his patients the best and latest quality treatment possible and available in our country. For this purpose he constantly attends various National and International Medical conferences and participates in various research activities.

He graduated in medicine from one of the finest and most reputed Medical Institute of India (GSVM medical college) in1980 and was awarded with Master’s Degree in General Medicine from the same College in 1984. His research work in the Diabetic patients with Heart attack and Paralysis during that period was well appreciated. Since then he has been working as a consultant in medicine and developed expertise in art of medicine to deal all difficult medical problems before he joined Indraprastha Apollo Hospital at New Delhi in 1996.

He is life member of several organizations including Indian Medical Association and Association of Physicians of India.

He is Ex President of Rotary Club, and worked in various committees as Chairman and Director. He has worked with various other social welfare organizations like Diabetic and Heart Care Foundation and participated with different health care and awareness activities throughout India. He also organizes many free Health Checkups Camps and give public talks as to educate people and promote health awareness to Voluntary organizations and corporate.

He teaches undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Students and is guide for thesis of post graduates. Currently he is working with many study groups and medical researchers. He also works with Media to promote health awareness through healthcare programs on various TV channels and publish many health columns and articles in leading National and Regional news papers and Magazines.
